Abstract: The aim of this study is to examine which theoretical models and frameworks contribute most to understanding the growth and market leadership of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The central research questions are: (1) which common dimensions can be identified across different growth and strategic theories, and (2) how can these dimensions be applied in today’s rapidly changing, AI-driven business environment. The methodology is based on a narrative, thematic literature review, through which six key dimensions emerged as vital for SME growth: innovation, strategic planning, leadership and management, customer orientation, globalization, and technological development. The findings propose a conceptual framework that deepens understanding of SME growth dynamics and provides practical guidance for leaders and policymakers.
Keywords: SME growth, strategic models, success factors, disruptive innovation, artificial intelligence, AI
