Abstract: This study assessed the algorithmic and logical thinking skills of first-year undergraduate computer science students at J. Selye University. The research involved 75 students who were asked to solve 16 tasks sequentially via an online platform in a supervised classroom setting at the beginning of the 2023/24 academic year. The framework we developed automatically measured the completion time for each task. Additionally, students had to indicate their confidence level for all their answers. The results revealed that the students scored an average of 63.8% on the test and completed the tasks in an average of 39.4 minutes. The mean of students' overall confidence level, expressed as a percentage, was 77.1%. Pearson correlation analysis showed a significant relationship between students’ confidence and score (p<0.001), while no significant correlation was found between solution time and score or between solution time and confidence.
