Abstract: The impact of learning motivation on learning activity and performance has been
researched for over fifty years. In the beginning, only psychology regarded this field as its
own.. From the 1930s onwards, a complex approach to learning motivation has gradually
emerged from the research findings.
The study was carried out in high-schools. The sub-sample consisted of 1015 students in
high-school and of 678 students in technical schools. The participants were assessed using
KozÈki's standardised measure of learning motivation dimensions.
The results show that the school motivation of students attending technical schools is
characterized by a higher number of follower dimensions than in the case of students
attending high school.. In addition to the type of institution, we also compared the
motivational orientation of 9th grade students who entered the institution in the same
academic year and of graduating students.
