Abstract:
FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE TO PROFESSIONAL VOCATION: THE JOURNEY OF MOTHERS RAISING AUTHISTIC CHILDREN TO CAREERS IN SPECIAL EDUCATION
This study explores the transformation of personal experiences into professional vocations among mothers raising autistic children who pursue careers in special education. Through qualitative research methods, including semi-structured interviews and narrative analysis, the study examines the motivations, challenges, and competencies developed by these mothers. Additionally, it investigates the role of social media in facilitating knowledge sharing, community support, and the enhancement of professional identity. Findings indicate that personal caregiving experiences significantly influence career choices, fostering a deep commitment to special education. The research highlights the importance of recognizing and integrating the unique insights of parenteducators into special education training programs.
