Abstract:
EMOTIONAL AND BEHAVIORAL PROBLEMS AMONG ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS
Many children face with difficulties in social interaction, emotional regulation, attention, or have other atypical behavioral symptoms. Recent research has focused on this area, particularly in preschool and school-age years. In addition to the overall well-being of children, the psychological factors underlying problematic behavior can have a negative impact on their social relationships and school achievement. Therefore, early diagnosis and subsequent interventions are crucial for a child’s development. This study aims to analyze the behavioral and emotional problems among elementary school students in Hungarian schools in Slovakia using the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). Both teachers and parents were asked to complete the questionnaire. The results showed which behavioral and emotional symptoms appear most often in students. The study also points out the differences between the responses of parents and teachers.
