Abstract: Hungarian writer Győző Határ left his country in winter 1956, after the revolution had been crushed. After spending some time in Vienna, he emigrated to London. He worked for BBC Hungarian and after his retirement, Radio Free Europe in Munich. Parallel to this, he continued writing literature he had started in Hungary, leaving behind a substantial oeuvre at his death in 2006. Essays and monographs have been written about Határ's literary works. The posterior incorporation of this grandiose oeuvre into the history of 20th century Hungarian literature is not evident. This is also true of his works on philosophy. Based on his book Intra muros published in the late 70s, I am attempting to present Határ's communication technique and some important aspects of his concept of the philosophy of history.

Keywords: Győző Határ, immigrant literature, philosophy of history, the elite, the end of the West
