Abstract: The study investigates the views and career orientations of graduate primary school teacher students in the introductory period of their teacher's career (Rossi et al. [1]). Re-garding education and training in Hungary, it is typical that - mainly part-time – students teachers have already had experience in practical teaching and own strong opinions about education. The research focuses on student teachers' subjective views and perceptions of their role as teachers and their visions and orientations of the career in terms of practical experience. The research sample consists of full-time and correspondence students (grad-uated in 2022) of Eszterházy Károly Catholic University Jászberény Campus. The research was carried out by using questionnaire survey and metaphor research. According to the results, the role of the teacher is seen as the traditional aspects of knowledge transfer, trainer and educator; the teacher's main qualities are love of children, pedagogical sense and professionalism. The main reason for leaving teacher training or teaching would be a lack of financial appreciation, but many are planning further studies.
