Abstract: The beginning of a new solar cycle is characterized by rising the number of solar and geomagnetic storms as well as increasing the geomagnetic activity in general. We recorded a geomagnetic storm at the beginning of the Solar Cycle 25 using a recording device LB-480, connected to an older Bobrov type magnetometer PSM-8711. Here, we present the results of testing the set of the LB-480 and PSM-8711 devices in quiet and disturbed geomagnetic conditions. An important intermediate result of the study is the determination of the sensitivities of the magnetometer sensors. The testing in both quiet and disturbed conditions has shown the satisfactory accuracy of our instrument set, but we have also pointed to a weakness of the set, which is a limited measuring range.
