Abstract: We have conducted a survey to find out how did college students experience the pandemic and how did they manage their conflicts in this tense period of time. The every day lives of both regular and distance school students have changed as well as the lives of their families. In our study we wanted to discover if there are any significant connections between the student’s family background and his or her ability to manage these conflicts. We have conducted the survey from April 28, 2021 to June 15, 2021. As the basis of our study, we used the Lazarus and Folkman (1986) method, with all the 66 questions of their Ways of Coping Questionnaire, which we have extended with questions dealing with the participants’ family background. The survey analyses seven conflict resolution strategies: 1) positive reappraisal, 2) escape-avoidance, 3) social support, 4) distancing and self acceptance, 5) con-frontation, 6) problem solving and self control and finally, 7) withdrawal, loss of control and seeking help. The recorded survey shows correlation in the 1) problem solving strategies and the 2) conflict resolution strategies of the participants developed during the emergency with respect to their family background, relationships, number of children and religiosity.
