Abstract: One of the main challenges for first grade teachers is how to make the teaching-learning process efficient for the individuals within the classroom environment. It requires diagnostic activities within the pedagogical diagnosis and measuring the critical core skills because one of the necessary preconditions of insuring the differentiated development is the diagnostic assessment with the help of efficient measuring instruments used in practice. It is extremely important for verifying the aptitude of children.The aim of the study is to introduce the opportunities of measuring the critical core skills in Slovakia and the results of the actual experiment with the help of DIFER tests in first grade.
