Abstract: The new basis for Central European contexts (Thoughts on diversity of characteristics and European integration) At the beginning of the dissertation we get a picture about the current situation and future of minorities in Central Europe. The current large-scale integration process is causing psychological as well as emotional contradictions. On the European stage it can be observed that extreme nationalist and particular manifestations are spreading in parallel with integration, even in regions where they have been considered extinct. The thesis clearly states that the new basis of Central European contexts will be the regional cultural cohesion, which will highly influence the development of self-knowledge and cultural identity. In this sense, “Central Europeanness” belongs to the self-knowledge and perspective orientation of the Hungarian nation. It has already been proven several times that Central Europe, as a political concept, was mostly an “imaginary area” of culture and spirituality, but nowadays - considering the grouping of the V4s - it already has political power. Therefore, the European Union can rightly be expected to solve the region's problems, to establish an acceptable minority program and to create a viable vision. As a lesson, the study emphasizes: in order to develop a modern national / minority national consciousness in the new social conditions, it is necessary to take into account the specific circumstances involved - as well as determinants. In order for this to succeed, the consequence will be that it will be possible not to lose the so-called "small languages" and "small cultures" in the multitude of integration, but to be the basis of a diverse Europe.
