Abstract: Dienes Valéria was a Hungarian philosopher, dance coreographer, mathematician. She was the outstanding figure of movement cultura in the first half of the 20th century. Dienes Valéria was inspired by the process philosophy of Bergson. She established a school, and started to elaborate her own movement method, what she called orchestics (from the Greek orcheomai=to move) This system consists of four disciplines: space (plastics), time (rhythmics), strength (dinamics) and meaning. The central idea of her system is the signifying potential of the body-movement, time-synthesis, meaningful movement. In this paper I would like to present her evological model of communication, semiotic conception of movement theory. The paper tries to delineate features of her system used by dance and movement therapy.
