Abstract: At the Széchenyi István University Apáczai Csere János Faculty, the methodological training of teachers teaching Hungarian language and culture in the Diaspora will be held for the 20th time in August 2020. As a result of our professional work so far, with the support of the State Secretariat for National Policy, we have had the opportunity to create a distance education system that helps colleagues teaching in the diaspora to teach Hungarian as a foreign language. The free interface will be available to interested educators from May 2020. Distance learning operates within a moodle background within the university’s wind learning system, complemented by the capabilities provided by MaxWhere 3D VR learning spaces. In the process of developing the distance education system, we assessed the professional, content and technical needs with the help of focus group interviews. The present study aims to present the process, theoretical and practical background of the establishment of this distance learning system.
