Abstract: Anxiety is a basic feeling and experience that compasses man's existence, something that especially prevails in our day and age. From our birth we experience this reality, when having struggled through the strait of the birth channel we reach the freedom of birth. So the experience of fear is implanted within us through this process of pain and suffering, which then becomes a defining factor for the whole of our lives. At the same time not only is our birth defined by anxiety but so is the process of dying. This process's main feeling is the fear caused by the reality of entering the unknown. Between both terminus's birth and death, existence is permeated with an inabsolvable sense of anxiety caused by the transitory nature and mortality of life. We can think of our lives as being hemned between birth and death whose every moment is defined by life's transitory nature. The present study, of course, does not attempt to explain the possible complex aspects of both anxiety and fear. Our purpose is to point to those basic psychological correlations which are relevant with regards to pastoral care. We seek to show that anxiety and fear have a defining role in the development of personality and can have a positive influence on the maturing of the persona.
