Abstract: We can be the witness of a new and interesting phenomenon in the Reformed Churches, especially in Western Europe, but more and more in Hungary, too. In the same institutional frame there are two different forms of Christian communities. Beside the older, traditional churches – partly as a result of church plantings – there are more new, missional communities. These two forms exist inside the same church, but live two different lives, sometimes against each other. How can we value this situation in the light of European secularization? Is this ’parallel- church’ phenomenon a problem, or a possibility? What is the role of church planting in present day reformed churches, especially in Hungary? In this article we look for the answers for these crucial questions.
