Abstract: This paper offers a sociolinguistic reading of Pavel Rozkoš’s prose Na svadbe, a work that provides a vivid literary portrait of the Slovak minority community in the Romanian Banat. The analysis explores different layers of linguistic and cultural contact from dialectal and colloquial features of Slovak, through lexical influences from Romanian and Hungarian, to the survival of traditional wedding rituals. The study argues that language in Rozko š’s prose functions not only as an artistic device but also as a marker of identity and a means of documentation, preserving the memory of the community and conveying its experience of living in a multilingual and multicultural environment.
