Abstract: The explosive development of the digital world requires that information security education be given a fundamental role in school curricula. Young people spend a significant part of their daily lives online, whether it's for learning, entertainment, or keeping in touch. It's important that they are aware of the risks of the digital environment and are aware of the basic principles of safe and responsible internet use. This study examines the state-issued national core curricula of the V4 countries (Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Poland) to explore how and to what extent information security is addressed at the primary and grammar school levels. Using qualitative content analysis, we assessed the national core curricula’s requirements to understand how students are being prepared for safe and conscious digital engagement. Our findings can contribute to the development of more effective, uniform information security education in individual countries.
