Abstract: The presentation reviews the past thirty years of Reformed cantor training in Upper Hungary. It examines the motivations of participants, how many completed the course, and how many actually took on cantor duties in their congregations. It highlights the reasons for dropouts, opportunities for learning and further education, and the role of organized continuing education. The study is based on existing data, a survey, and personal recollections. The aim is to explore how cantor training has contributed to the musical ministry of congregations and what challenges define the present and future of the cantor profession in the Reformed Christian Church in Slovakia.
