Abstract: The foundations of a responsible attitude towards sustainability must be developed in childhood, in the effectiveness of which educational institutions play a key role. However, education for sustainability is a public matter, its effectiveness is greatly influenced by the parental pattern and the attitude of the peer group. It is worth taking advantage of the pull of families and the peer community when developing a sustainability approach, as group activity enhances performance and increases commitment and motivation. Common exploration, common task and solution are forward-looking. The study presents the learning goals of education for sustainability, the paradigm shift needed to achieve them in the field of education, and the advantages of school community, experience and project method in shaping attitudes. In the second part of the study, a compatible school project will be presented.
