Abstract: The study examines the sustainability opportunities of hungarian banks, with a particular focus on their alignment with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) frameworks. Through a comprehensive analysis of financial institutions' strategic reports and sustainability statements, the research identifies key trends, challenges, and opportunities in integrating sustainability into banking operations. The study demonstrates, through the analysis of four case studies, specific aspects of how banks can modify their business policies. The findings suggest that while Hungarian banks are increasingly adopting ESG principles, there are significant disparities in the depth and scope of implementation. The study highlights the importance of regulatory frameworks, stakeholder engagement, and innovative financial products in promoting sustainable banking practices in Hungary.
