Abstract: I briefly go through security overview, challenges, risks, and threats of Hungary in the
beginning of the 21st century. I write in more detail about the causes and effects of the
migrant crisis. I have visited 144 disbanded barracks so far, from every region of Hungary.
Some of the disbanded barracks could be deployed as alternative solutions for the defence
force, following renovation, who are in great need of temporary accommodation for
refugees and other facilities due to the high migration pressure. I included those barracks
on the outskirts in a table, which can be used in the first round.
The former barracks on the edge of the settlements or in the outskirts pollute the
environment in their current state and spoil the impressions of visitors to the cities, but
after renovation they can once again have useful functions in order to cope with increased
migration.
