Abstract:
THE CONFERENCE OF EUROPEAN CHURCHES AND THE HUNGARIAN PROTESTANT CHURCHES - THE FIRST FIFTY YEARS
The purpose of this article is to present the role of the Hungarian Protestant churches in the first fifty years of the history of the Conference of European Churches. This paper does not contain detailed information about the history of either the EEK or the European ecumenical movement, as it cannot attempt to clarify the basic concepts. That is why, accepting them as known, after reviewing the general assemblies of the Conference of European Churches, it immediately turns to clarifying the role of the Hungarian Protestant churches. However, the historical outline itself seems to be absolutely necessary, as it provides the framework for the Hungarian work carried out in the EEK and helps in orientation in time.

Keywords: Ecumenical movement, European Conference of Churches, Hungarian Protestant churches
