Abstract: This article aims to examine the figurative aspects present in money-related proverbs in Spanish. A collection of proverbs was gathered from various sources, including dictionaries, prior research, and online resources. The study utilized the Conceptual Metaphor Theory proposed by Lakoff and Johnson (1980), along with Kövecses' (2018) money-related conceptual framework. The analysis revealed that money is represented as both the underlying concept and the concept being described in Spanish proverbs. This investigation aimed to delve into the conceptual metaphors used in money-related proverbs in Spanish. It is suggested that future research explore metaphorical expressions in other proverbial domains and in other languages.
