Abstract: This study is based on our empirical research which was performed as part of a project examining scientific and mathematical thinking. Secondary grammar school students' in-quiry skills were measured with a research tool developed from a total of 20 tasks, in-cluding 4-4 tasks from informatics, mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics subjects. In our analyses we deal only with the evaluation of the four physics tasks. Primarily we want to investigate if the time consumption on tasks solution determine the performance of students.
