Abstract: The different social developments of the minority and majority Hungarian communities in the last century have followed paths, creating an independent institutional system and specific cultural practices that fit into the social processes of the given country. The aim of the present study is to shed light on the role of national strategies and identity strategies in shaping the interpretive context, based on a review of the literature, in the research project entitled “Minority Situation, Identity, Education - School Self-Assertion Strategies of the Hungarian Minority Identity in Slovakia”.
