Abstract:
Two focuses of youth research: education and problem-perception
The large-scale (8,000) youth research program has been implemented since the turn of the
millennium. It strives to record the life situation of the 15-29 year-olds every four years, and it
can be a suitable tool to paint a comprehensive picture of the Hungarian youth. This is the
case even if this picture is somewhat obscure: youth is a larger age group, and even the age
group itself. Analyzing life situations, lifestyle processes, pivotal life events, and typical
problems that appear in this independent phase of life can provide the basis for future
conclusions. The Hungarian Youth Research - whose data we have relied on - examines many
areas of young people's lives and draws important conclusions for Hungarian teenagers and
twenty-year-olds. However, the picture is much more nuanced than the official reports show.
We examine two topic thoroughly: the educational life and the problem-perception.
Keywords: youth research, education, most important problems of youth
