Abstract: An example to the educational relevance of popular culture
In this work we try to reflect on the conflict found in todays public education generated by the distance between compulsory readings and the interests of the young. We seek ways of using commonly known popcultural references form books, blockbusters and series as learning materials for the education of the youth. With problems and their analysations we show some examples of using well-known and less popular characters and conflicts by focusing on their core motifs to provoke debates and discussions in the classrom. Some of these are the no win situations, questions of modern days' democratic systems, the future of nuclear weapons, the overpopulation of the Earth. The reader can get familiar with a certain class using these methods and the evaluation of the class by the students involved.

Keywords: popular culture in schools, blockbusters in education, imaginary worlds in education
