Abstract: Nowadays, the expansion of social networks is a relatively new phenomenon. The enormous increase in interest in social networks is related to all young people around the world. How teenagers engage in social networks can provide insight into shaping their identity and peer socialization. The paper deals with selected social, ethical and health aspects of the social networks use by the target group of secondary school students. In the first part of the paper we define the concept of social networks, analyse their advantages and identify the risks associated with their use also in the context of addiction. In the empirical part of the paper, we present the results of a survey we conducted at selected business academies in Bratislava.
